On 6–7th September 2025, endurance athlete Martin Malone will take on The BIG SWIM — a 24-hour continuous open water swim at St Andrews Lakes in Kent – to raise funds for two vital Isle of Man children’s charities: Rebecca House Children’s Hospice and The Children’s Centre.

Part of the wider Expedition Limitless 2026 mission, the challenge will see Martin swim for 24 hours straight around the perimeter of the lake, stopping only briefly each hour to refuel and hydrate. The goal is to raise £50,000, contributing to a £200,000 total team target.

All funds raised will help cover the significant operating costs of both charities, which provide life-changing support to children and families across the Isle of Man. Thanks to support from the Z Zurich Foundation, every £1 donated will be matched, doubling the impact of every contribution.

On Instagram, Malone says;

“When I told [a lady by the pool] that I’ll be swimming for 24 hours at St Andrew’s Lakes, she said “Why on earth would you want to swim for 24 hours?”. I said “I don’t have to swim for 24 hours, I get to do it. It’s a privilege”.

Malone adds, “Expedition Limitless is an amazing initiative giving back so much to the Isle of Man community and I’m proud to be part of it. I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supporting me and the list just gets longer:”

Set in the Kent countryside, St Andrews Lakes is a private adventure and leisure destination offering everything from open water swimming and paddleboarding to zip wires, axe throwing and a Wellness Centre with lakeside saunas and hot tubs. It regularly hosts swim events, including its recent Summer Solstice sunrise swim.

Commenting on the site where this challenge will take place in September, Malone says,

“I’m incredibly grateful to Andrew and the team at St Andrews Lakes for all the support they have given me and for allowing me to take on my 24 hour swim at this incredible lake for the two amazing charities I’m supporting. The safety team, water quality and temperature at St Andrews Lakes make it the perfect location for me to take on this epic challenge. Please check out the lakes and their facilities. Such a beautiful place for a weekend away and only a short drive from London City Airport”.
